Filtration is remove impurities from water through a fine physical barrier, a chemical process or a biological process. Filters clean water at different points for purposes such as irrigation, drinking water, aquariums, pool and swimming pool.
Several types of filtration:
- Multi-Media Filter (MMF)
Multi-Media Filter typically contains three layers of media consisting of an anthracite, silica sand and garnet, with a supporting layer of gravel at the bottom. MMF is used to reduce the level of suspended solids and turbidity in raw water
- Activated Carbon Filter (ACF)
Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) works via a process called chemical adsorption. This unit generally used in water treatment for dechlorination and removing of organic compounds, taste and odour from industrial feed water
- Microfiltration (MF) / Ultrafiltration (UF)
Both MF and UF is a low pressure driven membrane separation process that separates particulate matter from soluble components in feed water. Microfiltration (MF) / Ultrafiltration (UF) unit is an alternative technology to be replaced conventional pretreatment system that require chemical precipitation, sedimentation, and filtration process.
- Long Fiber Filter (FIBAX)
For the conventional filtration through a filter bed, filtration media such as sand and anthracite are used. The FIBAX high rate filter can be operated either by gravity-feed or pressure-feed depending upon the installation place and/or applications.
